HISTORY

Binangonan Elementary School is the central school in the District of Binangonan I. The school is located at the boundary of two barangays Brgy. Batingan and Layunan, Binangonan, Rizal. It lies 37 kilometers Southeast of Manila and it is entirely nestled between the foot of the Sierra Madre Mountain and the Laguna Lake. It covers an area of 16,531 sq m.
History asserts that during the Pre-Spanish Period, the early inhabitants of Binangonan possessed a culture of its own but the only kind of learning that children received was purely incidental, half hazard and lack of initiative contacts. Some old folks said that the first teachers of Binangonan possessed both written and oral literature which is still preserved up to those days in the form of songs, proverbs, maxim and duplan.
At the outset of the Spanish period, Binangonan was very fortunate to be blessed with a parochial school. Discipline was strict and the boys were separated from the girls. In 1901, a free public school which consisted of two grades was organized.
In 1924, Mr.Valentin Antazo, the town executive purchased the present school site and managed the construction of the school and the Home Economics Building. A portion of the school site was donated by Mr. Mauro Cabildo. Since its establishment, the school becomes progressive. More academic buildings were constructed.
Binangonan ES has been opened sometime in June, 1942. The curriculum offered only a revision of the pre-war type. The double-single session plan was followed in the primary grades and the one-one plan in the intermediate grades.
The town was liberated on February 25, 1945.

The following month, the school was re-opened and the double-single plan was used again. High school graduates and ETC students were employed as teachers. There were mass promotions among pupils.
For the improvement of the delivery of instruction, teachers pursued their college education and finished their ETC and BSEED degrees.
At present, education in Binangonan Elem. School is far progressing and we say, BES is soaring high with its achievements.
Competent and dynamic people have given and shared their lives for Binangonan Elementary School. They were the ones who made BES marked its name on the map of the Division of Rizal.
